Lets choose a setting for our Two Cent Quilt. I like to call the setting

#1 Straight
a floor plan before you start to build Of course there are many possible settings for a quilt but I have narrowed it down to 3 choices. I don't want to have to think too hard yet :)
First the most basic setting is the straight setting. This is simply
setting blocks side by side and row by row. Pretty straight forward.
Even though this framework is basic and the most common, there are
several variations to work with later if we choose this setting.

#2 On Point
The second choice will be the On Point setting. This is when you turn
the block 45 degrees so one corner points up.The same block as the
straight setting will take on a whole new look when you set it on point. Again I will show you different ways to handle the on point
settings if we choose this one.

#3 Medallion
Last but not least is the medallion setting. This would be one large center block surrounded by several pieced and plain borders. The medallion is most times as wide as the top of your bed. And yes I can think of lots of fun ways to handle this also.
Sew are you ready to make your first choice? Post a comment and tell me what you think. I read all coments and will tally the votes.

If you have been to Etsy.com you know how fun it is to shop there. If you haven't you should check it out. I have started an Etsy Team there and will be collecting votes there also.

I sew on thursdays with a group of good friends. We call it BYOP Day - bring your own project. Believe it or not some don't do the internet yet. I just can't imagine going without these days :)
ReplyDeleteToday Peggy voted for #2 the on point setting. So you have till Tuesday to give me your vote.
I can't wait to see this new quilt design grow.
Our BYOP Day is held at Jones Sew & Vac and Nick our store manager has cast a vote also. Not being a quilter he made his decision strictly on the look of the frame.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nick for playing along.
His vote.... #2 On point.
ReplyDeleteWell I too like the "on point" style and look forward to following your project :) I found your blog from My Quilt Place, another site I have just recently found ~ I'm new to quilting and trying to learn!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in Judi. It looks like #2-onpoint is in the lead.
ReplyDeleteMy Quilt Place looks like it is going to be a great place to spend some reading time :) I found lots of inspiration last night.
